I've seen lots of my favourite bloggers do this post, and it's one of my favourite things to read. I love getting an insight into someone's go to look, and comparing average-priced faced with much more expensive ones to see which look I prefer. I am a bit of a high end obsessive, admittedly, as having lovely luxurious products makes me feel fabulous. Although a higher price can mean higher quality, I know that that's not always true, but I would much rather have the lovely all day experience of browsing the amazing beauty halls of Debenhams and House of Fraser than what usually ends up as a very stressful trip to Boots or Superdrug, due to my indecisiveness.
I have added up the cost of everything I use for my go-to beauty look, although some products (mainly those for lips) do change pretty frequently. Feeling very nervous!
Face:
Illamasqua Matte Veil Primer - £30
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 01 and 07 - £64
Illamasqua Skin Base Lift Concealer in Light 1- £17.50
Illamasqua Powder Foundation in 210 (used as bronzer) - £26
Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Ambition - £21.50
Illamasqua Loose Powder in 010 - £24
Brows:
Makeup Revolution Brow Dual Ultra Brow Arch & Shape in Medium - £3.50
Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep - £18.50
No7 Brow Perfector - £8.50
Eyes:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original - £16
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette - £39
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara - £17.50
Lips:
Nivea Hydro Care Lip Protection Lip Balm - £1.58
Mac Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Fashion Boost - £15.50
Mac Lipstick in Up The Amp - £15.50
A grand total of £318.58! I feel super surprised and very, very guilty. Thinking about how many highstreet lipsticks or coffees I could buy with that is almost painful. I was hoping that adding everything up would encourage me to cut down on the spending for a while so I guess we'll see how long that lasts (my bet is a week).
I notice that absolutely all of my skin makeup is from Illamasqua which is funny but what can I say, I adore them. There's some Urban Decay in there too but in my opinion I haven't tried nearly as many of their products as I would like. Luckily, I booked my prom makeup appointment last weekend at Urban Decay so I reckon I'll be talked into buying a few more items. I've been eying up those Naked palettes for a very long time...
How much is your face worth, and do you know any cheaper dupes for any of the high end products that I like to use?
Okay so:
ReplyDeleteFace - priceless
Brows- raised
Eyes- sparkling
Lips - smiling
All to the grand total of you look like a million bucks! :D
Love love love XXX
Thats crazy!! Definitely something I'd be interested in doing...

It's very interesting but I warn you, it will increase the amount of guilt that you feel whenever you buy a new beauty product from now on! Good motivation for a spending ban (although I have to admit I've already failed mine).
DeleteI love this lipstick! You look gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible! So long lasting even without liner and the colour payoff is insane. My only gripe is that it can be very tricky to apply, but I have to sacrifice an extra five minutes of application with all of my favourite purpley hues :')
DeleteIts crazy how much we spend on beauty products! I've never even really thought about it until seeing this post - I'd be worried how much mine would all come to! Great post and you look fab xo

I know, right? Can't even imagine how high my total would be if I were to add up my whole collection. Scary! :')
DeleteYou look gorgeous! Your lip combo looks so pretty on you. I'll definitely have to get my hands on some Illamasqua products :) The money has been spent so need to feel guilty! Love the idea of this post xxx
